Get Your Chocolate Prayer

Uncategorized May 18, 2020
Last week I shared with you about gratitude and how I've been cultivating it even though things are hard right now.

Many of you replied to me with condolences and reached out for the quick gratitude check-in calls. Congrats to Leslie, Bugz, Heidi, and Joy. You were randomly/divinely selected.

This morning I had my first call with Leslie. To begin our conversation, we started to breathe together and a new gratitude meditation just flowed through me. Fortunately, I was recording the session, and Leslie has allowed me to share the meditation with you. it's just a few minutes but it will reorient your day toward gratitude, your ancestors and deep connection to the earth. You can download this meditation here.

This grounding in gratitude and spaciousness around my heart is helping me to be with pain of the killing of Ahmaud Arbery, a young Black man who was killed by two white men while jogging in his neighborhood. Meditation and other spiritual tools, when used wisely, help you to be with the pain and to do your part to heal this separation that plagues this nation.

In addition to gratitude, I've been praying daily.  When there's something that seems intransigent, really stuck and beyond me, I pray.  My daughter and I discuss prayer and social justice on our weekly Get Your Chocolate On episode.  It's short and sweet.  Listen here. https://youtu.be/BRUxbRzFl8c

Next week I'll post two prayers that I've been using that have worked wonders in my life--even during Covid-19!

Peace and love

Amanda
