PROGRAM MODULES
Welcome and Introduction
MODULE 1: Defining the Terms
MODULE 2: Holding Space for Transformation
MODULE 3: Implicit Racial Bias
MODULE 4: Beyond White Supremacy Culture
MODULE 5: Your Next Best Move
I am grateful for you, for the change that has come about in my life, and for the hope you are spreading to the world around you. While your work centers largely around social justice and personal inter-relationships that interface with racial conversations, the work you actually do is far deeper than that, and has been life changing for me.
II am deeply grateful for the hours I've spent with you and for all you have taught me. One of the things you said that I frequently share with other people is "We need to cultivate self love. Because if we don't have enough self-love with which to greet our own faults, we cannot be honest with ourselves or other people."
With sincere gratitude,
Mary S.
After you've confronted your own biases, you're ready to challenge others and to be open to your own ongoing growth through speaking up.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Overview and Introduction:
What is Racial Justice from the HEART? Dr. Amanda Kemp describes her approach to racial justice, working from the inside out, advocating a transformation of internalized bias first, and an approach to dialogue about race that holds COMPASSION together with JUSTICE, and INTEGRITY together with HUMILITY. It also puts EFFECTIVENESS above scoring POINTS.
This module also lays out the basic framework for understanding racism as a SYSTEM that affects ALL of us, not just white nationalists. By Holding Space for Transformation and telling on ourselves, we create space that makes possible deeper reflection, connection, and eventual change. Amanda shares the process of putting this into practice in daily life, modeling how to get support, stay curious, and have the strength to be authentic and vulnerable.
STEP 1 MODULE: Check with Your Wise Self
Amanda introduces Step 1 toward transformative conversations: checking with your Wise Self about whether you have the capacity to have a difficult conversation right now. Here we explore what to do next when it’s not a good time and how to delay, deflect, or divert. We also introduce some simple but powerful ways to actively increase your self-compassion, and with it, the capacity to say yes to tough conversations about racism.
STEP 2 MODULE: Holding Space for Transformation
Amanda introduces Holding Space for Transformation--the secret sauce to doing difficult conversations well WITHOUT exhausting yourself OR surrendering your values. She explains why Holding Space makes good practical sense and helps with applying it in tense situations. This module also offers tools to defuse our triggers so we can bring our best selves to the conversation.
STEP 3 MODULE: Lean In
You learn the trick to listening in a way where the other person hears their contradictions, uncertainties, and need for more understanding without you saying a word! We show you how to stretch with silence, and to move the conversation from the head- to the heart-level without sacrificing yourself. This module talks about the transformative power of listening--and of resisting the urge to set the other person straight. We also show you more self-compassion practices to fill your cup. Practice them and you will grow your capacity for generous listening.
STEP 4 MODULE: Being Heard & Honored
You learn how to say what you need to say in a way that it can be heard and honored. No more feeling frustrated and like nobody’s listening to you.
STEP 5 MODULE: Reflection
You take the time to reflect and learn from your real life experiences with our guided questions and support. Take a breath and feel proud of your growth!

“Now I feel encouraged, more clear and excited about next steps. In fact I took a step by talking with my son about it this evening.”

I have lots of challenges and blind spots, but I think the movement has been amazing.
[Now] I have confidence; I feel solid. I don't feel the personal despair and frustration. I think more clearly. I'm finding my lane. You have taught me open heartedness.”
